Description

The compact, personal, single-channel gas detector Dräger Ras 5500 quickly measures the concentration of carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, or oxygen in the workplace. Accurate, reliable, and easy to maintain, Dräger’s ergonomic gas detector is extremely practical and has an unlimited shelf life.

Advantages of the Dräger Ras 5500

Small and durable

Comfortable and lightweight, its design places great emphasis on user requirements and practical industrial applications. The device is easy to operate even while wearing gloves. The single-channel gas detector Dräger Ras 5500 is recommended even under more specific environmental conditions—it is equipped with an impact-resistant rubber housing, is resistant to corrosive chemicals, dust, and water in accordance with IP65 protection class requirements: the gas detector can be used even when exposed to low-pressure water jets from any direction;

Safety First

The sensor is positioned at the front and top so that even if a single-channel gas detector Dräger Ras 5500 is in a pocket and the gas sensor inlet is accidentally blocked, measurement will most likely continue;

Long service life

The lithium battery and sensor can be replaced on-site without additional equipment. In case of clogging, the dust and water protection filters at the front of the device can be replaced. Easy maintenance gives the single-channel gas detector Dräger Ras 5500 a virtually unlimited service life;

Fast Sensors

The Dräger Ras 5500 features a new generation of specially developed miniature sensors suitable for the most compact personal gas detectors. The sensors offer a fast response time of just 10 seconds and a long expected service life of at least 8 years;

Clear and Easy-to-Read Display

The large, easy-to-read LCD display on the Dräger Ras 5500 single-channel gas detector shows not only the concentration but also the unit of measurement. Optionally, the display can be configured to show the type of gas as well (in this case, the concentration is shown on the display only if the alarm threshold has been exceeded). The display does not show any language labels to prevent potential misreading. The backlight can be adjusted to ensure maximum visibility under all environmental conditions. The labels in yellow (hydrogen sulfide), blue (oxygen), or gray (carbon monoxide) clearly identify the sensor in the detector so that they can be recognized unambiguously even from a distance;

Alarm and Warning Functions

In addition to a vibration alarm and a continuous audible alarm, the single-channel gas detector Dräger Ras 5500 features flashing LEDs and a 360° optical alarm (a bright LED light clearly visible in all directions). For added safety, it features a pre-alarm and a main alarm. Alarm levels can be adjusted according to user requirements. When battery capacity is low, a warning is triggered via the pre-alarm and main alarm. If there are problems with the electronics, battery, or sensor, an error warning alarm is immediately activated and also indicated on the display.  Upon customer request, a “operational signal” can be enabled or disabled; this signal emits a periodic sound indicating that the detector is functioning normally;

Bump Test and Calibration

Bump tests ensure safety for users of gas detectors by quickly verifying the operational status and sensitivity of the sensors.  Bump tests are performed by the user using optional equipment (an adapter or station) and a compressed gas cylinder. The test takes between 8 and 15 seconds, and the bump-test intervals can be set by the administrator (user): if a bump test is required, a clear indication appears on the display. If the warning is ignored, an error message is automatically displayed.

During initial setup, a clean-air calibration is required, which the user performs by pressing and holding the power button.

Full calibration of the gas detector is performed at a service center;

Memory

The single-channel Dräger Ras 5500 gas detector stores a log of the last 60 events and measurements, including date and time. In addition, the device can be connected to a computer via a DIRA interface module, and all events—power on, power off, alarms, configurations, etc.—can be downloaded to a computer and reviewed and analyzed using the specialized GasVision Data Management Software. Equipped with the software and the interface module, the Ras 5500 gas analyzer can also be used in laboratory research, for example, when not only gas measurement but also documentation of the results is required.
