Metrological Test Bench – a metrological system for testing and calibrating breathalyzers
A metrological system—a simulator that replicates the composition, temperature, volume, and pressure of human breath—designed to verify, calibrate, and verify the accuracy of breathalyzer products. Designed for accredited laboratories and metrology institutes.
Metrological Test Bench is a metrological system for testing and calibrating breathalyzers, manufactured by Alcohol Countramesure Systems, Canada. It is a high-tech device that simulates the composition, temperature, volume, and pressure of human breath. It is designed to work with various types of sensors and breathalyzer devices. Compatible devices may include standard, screening, stationary, and immobilizer breathalyzers, including evidentiary breathalyzers for measuring alcohol in exhaled breath.
Multifunctional and Adaptive System
The metrological test system generates standard alcohol solutions that can be adapted to the specific test requirements. Each component is measured and mixed within the system itself, which eliminates human error and ensures that every simulated sample meets precise laboratory requirements.
Testing available using either the wet or dry method
Accurate testing, calibration, verification, and certification are fundamental to maintaining the accuracy and quality of every breathalyzer. In addition to standard testing with a wet gas mixture, the Metrological Test Bench provides the additional option of testing with a dry reference gas.
Sample Preparation
The multi-component sample mixture contains air, water, ethanol, and carbon dioxide, and various chemical interferents can be added. The system is highly adjustable and flexible, allowing laboratory technicians to modify the parameters until the desired ratio is achieved across the full range of alcohol concentrations.
Controlled Temperature Zones
The controlled zones within the system itself ensure the most accurate simulation of the temperature of the human respiratory tract. The temperature is controlled by regulators with adjustable parameters and is precisely measured and displayed on the control panel.
Precise Monitoring
Specialized PLC and Windows software allow laboratory technicians to closely monitor parameters during each test. The information is visualized in graphical and mathematical formats, including regression calculations, standard deviations, result evaluation, stability, and calibration coefficient assessment.
Highly Sophisticated
The temperature remains constant at all times because the mixture flows from the system to the driers through heated outlet tubes. The volume corresponds to the maximum volume of the human lungs, and the pressure is maintained in accordance with the standard pressure of exhaled human air.
Testing and Calibration of Multiple Breathalyzers
Metrological Test Bench A metrological system for testing and calibrating breath analyzers can be optionally equipped with a multiplexer for maximum efficiency. This allows up to 4 additional devices to be serviced simultaneously.
