Description

The JKD-838 is a smart gas detector designed to provide timely protection against leaks of flammable gases, such as methane and propane-butane (LPG).

Key Features of the JKD-838

  • Electrochemical sensor: Reliable and certified to BDS/EN/ISO 50194-1
  • Modern design and compact size
  • Power Supply: Operates on AC 100–240 V for reliable and continuous protection
  • Alarm: Audible (≥85 dB) and visual alarms
  • Automatic self-test: Self-diagnostics for fault detection

Where should you use a gas leak detector?

  • Kitchens: Detects natural gas leaks from stovetops and gas ranges
  • Boiler rooms: Ensures safety when using gas heating
  • Garages: Protects against gas buildup when engines or gas appliances are running
  • Other roomswith gas appliances: Suitable for restaurants, hotels, workshops, and storage areas

Can I easily silence the alarm?

Yes, you can silence the sound of any detector for 10 minutes by pressing the TEST button. This is enough time to check all rooms for danger.

About Flammable Gases

Flammable gases such as methane (CH4), propane (C3H8), and butane (C4H10) are widely used for heating, cooking, and industrial processes. Despite their usefulness, these gases pose a serious hazard if they leak, as they are highly flammable and can cause explosions upon contact with an open flame or electrical sparks.

Why are gas leaks so dangerous?

  • Risk of explosion: The buildup of flammable gas in an enclosed space can lead to a sudden explosion.
  • Suffocation: High concentrations of gas displace oxygen, which can cause a lack of air.
  • Odorless in some leaks: Although natural gas usually has an odorizer added (a rotten-egg smell), some leaks may go unnoticed.
  • Rapid spread: Gas is light and can easily spread throughout a room, reaching ignition sources.

JKD-838 Maintenance

Gas detectors are factory-calibrated during manufacturing and do not require periodic calibration throughout their lifetime.

Recommended Maintenance:

  1. Cleaning: Clean the housing to ensure that dirt or dust does not block access to the sensor. Depending on the environment, cleaning should be performed once a month to once a week (for very dusty environments);
  2. Power supply check: Check the power supply to ensure trouble-free operation.

Other than what is mentioned above, the detector requires no other maintenance.
