The AM-525 is a “streamlined” version of a system that prevents a vehicle from starting if the driver’s breath alcohol content exceeds a certain threshold. This alcohol immobilizer is designed for company vehicles with integrated telemetry systems (GPS trackers). It ensures safety and compliance with legal requirements for controlling alcohol consumption while driving.

How does it work?

1️⃣ The driver must provide a breath sample before starting the car.
2️⃣ The AM-525 analyzes the sample and determines the alcohol concentration.
3️⃣ If the result is negative, the engine can be started. After a brief pause, a retest is not required.
4️⃣ If the result is positive, the ignition remains locked. The driver may retake the test after a set period of time.

Additional information:

🛠 Periodic Calibration Requirement – Follow the manufacturer’s requirements to ensure proper system operation: Calibration once a year. This is performed at an authorized service center by sending in the measurement module. To prevent the vehicle from being taken out of service, a spare unit is installed in its place (if one is not available, Keragon can provide it); the system is bypassed into emergency mode, in which case no alcohol test will be triggered. The AM-525 is not a metrological measuring instrument and does not require additional calibration by the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology.
