The ALCOTEST 5000 is a breathalyzer that does not require the use of disposable mouthpieces. Designed for rapid preliminary alcohol testing of employees at the entrance/exit of a facility to quickly determine the presence of alcohol vapor in the breath. The Alcotest 5000 is the only indicator-type breathalyzer from the German company in Lübeck, developed in response to consumer dissatisfaction with the high cost of consumables. The Alcotest 5000 significantly reduces costs during mass screenings. If alcohol is detected in a person’s breath, an additional measurement should be taken with breathalyzer that displays a quantitative result, and disciplinary penalties may be imposed based on the results of this follow-up test.

The ALCOTEST 5000 is a fast and easy-to-use breathalyzer designed for situations where a large number of people need to be tested in a short period of time without causing bottlenecks at the entrance to a facility, stadium, etc.  The ALCOTEST 5000 breathalyzer can test up to 12 people per minute.

Zero costs for consumables

Alcohol testing is completely contactless: the ALCOTEST 5000 breathalyzer uses a special, reusable funnel-type mouthpiece. There are no single-use consumables.

High hygiene standards

The mouthpiece is designed to direct the airflow to the side, reducing backflow from exhaled air.

This significantly reduces the risk of virus transmission and spread among test subjects. After use, the mouthpiece is removed, cleaned, disinfected, and can be reused.

Maximum Precision

The ALCOTEST 5000 uses the same sensor for alcohol measurement as the Dräger model ALCOTEST 7510, which is used by the Traffic Police (KAT) for roadside driver checks.

Ergonomic Design and Interface

Most functions are accessible with a single button, and the arrow buttons allow for easy navigation through the menu and settings: to view the results of the last 500 tests, reset the counter, check the date of the next calibration, or change the menu language.

The test with the ALCOTEST 5000 breathalyzer is accompanied by a clearly illustrated, icon-based procedure (no text), and the results are also displayed using only symbols.

Hand extension

The Dräger ALCOTEST 5000 can be fitted with a selfie stick or a stand that allows alcohol tests to be performed from a greater distance, for example, to test a truck driver entering the premises without requiring the driver to exit the cab. You can upgrade your Dräger ALCOTEST 5000 with an original Dräger stick (optional), or use any other stick with a standard screw-on tripod mount. This accessory further speeds up the driver testing process.

The stand can also be used to mount the breathalyzer permanently to a turnstile or next to the security guard’s window, freeing up the hands of the staff conducting alcohol tests.

Automatic Sample Collection

The Alcotest 5000 automatically collects a sample when it detects exhalation into the mouthpiece.

Forced sample collection

The Alcotest 5000 can forcibly collect a sample. This allows verification that the device is functioning properly; for example, if the result is disputed, a control sample is immediately taken from the surrounding air to verify that it shows no alcohol. In addition, it can be used to check for the presence of alcohol vapors in enclosed spaces (such as inside a car) or to collect an alcohol sample from a person who is unwilling or unable (if unconscious) to provide a breath sample.

Battery Life

The ALCOTEST 5000 is extremely energy-efficient—a single set of 3 standard alkaline batteries can perform approximately 5,000 tests.

Dräger Preliminary Alcohol Test

The ALCOTEST 5000 is designed exclusively for rapid preliminary sobriety checks. In the event of a positive result (detected alcohol), law enforcement officers must not take any therapeutic or legal measures against the individuals being tested without an additional follow-up test using a breathalyzer with a mouthpiece that displays a quantitative result.  Only samples taken from deep within the lungs can be accurately converted to blood alcohol concentration.

The kit includes everything you need to start testing immediately: ALCOTEST 5000 breathalyzer, a microfiber case, a wrist strap, a set of alkaline batteries, 3 funnel-type mouthpieces, instructions, a warranty card, and a calibration certificate.
